- Course objectives
- The course aims to provide the students with the basic orientation in research in education and also to provide inspiration for their own research activities, namely for their diploma thesis. Upon finishing the course, the students will be able to formulate the project of their diploma thesis, to describe its structure and to justify the selected research methods and approaches.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon finishing the course the students will be able to design their own research project for the purposes of their diploma thesis, inlucing the selection of specific research methods and techniques of data collection and analysis.
- Syllabus
- 1. General principles of the use of research in pedagogical practice, philosophical background, types of research.
- 2. Searching professional sources, working with studies, structuring of thesis.
- 3. Theoretical background, current state of the art, APA and the problem of plagiarism.
- 4. Design, data collection and analysis methods.
- 5. Design-based research, action research in the teaching profession.
- 6. Interview, objectives and sub-objectives/research questions, interview questions, data transcription.
- 7. Data coding, sorting and analysis.
- 8. Data description and interpretation of results.
- 9. Discussion, ethics, validity and reliability, triangulation.
- 10. Database search, use of AI.
