Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able: 1. to use Czech National Corpus - SYN 2000 a SYN 2005 as well as in corpuses of spoken Czech, e.g. ORAL 2008; 2. to understand the building up language corpuses, introduction to various types of corpuses, problems of characteristics of corpuses, their annotations, and markings. 3. to explain the fundamental knowledge of the corpus linguistics.

  • 3. Building-up corpuses, language data.
  • 4. Types of corpuses, characteristics of corpuses.
  • 5. Treatment of corpuses, corpus managers.
  • 6. Annotated corpuses, markings.
  • 7. Use of CNC in Czech language teaching.

seminar: problem method, controlled discussion on the professional issues of the course.
Assessment methods
The subject is ended by a credit test. Compulsory attendance. The students submit written papers of searched linguitic phenomena elaborated during seminars.
