Course objectives
At the end of this course the student will be able to use the fundamental knowledge and competence of the contemporary Czech morphology. Student will understand to the following themes: Morphology - fundamental terms: morpheme, morph, and grammatical structure of the word. Student will master the criterion of the word sorts classification, grammatical category of the nouns and of the verbs. Inflected word sorts - grammatical forms, their variants. Student will understand the tendency of the contemporary Czech morphology.

  • 1. Morphology - fundamental terms. 2. Functional and formal morphology. 3. Word sorts and their classification. 4. Grammatical category of the nouns. 5. Grammatical category of the verbs. 6. Declination of the substantives, adjectives, pronouns and numerals. 7. Conjugation. 8. Uninflected words. 9. Spelling czech rules.

Teaching methods
Textual analysis, identification of the language phenomena in the text. Problem method. Controlled discussion.
Assessment methods
Credit requirements: written and oral exam in credit week.The written test will have 20 questions about parts of speach.Students need to gain at least 70 %. Oral exam coveres the topics from the syllabus. During the semester students shall pass written tests from morphology, orthography and a practical knowledge of parts of speech, they also need to gain 70 %.
