Course objectives
At the end of the course the student will be able: 1. to understand of the alternative methods and the methods of the critical thinking; 2. to use the alternative methods - the methods should develop active, effective learning, then to develop work with a text and creativity; 3. to use the methods of the critical thinking in teaching Czech, especially in grammar and stylistic lessons at all stages of schools. The course develops the knowledge and primarily practical skills the undergraduates get in the lessons of The Alternative Methods of Teaching the Czech Language I. Gained educational methods correspond to the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education requirements.
Syllabus
  • 1. Evocation phase methods of the lesson (key words, discussion in pairs etc.).
  • 2. Realization phase methods (discussion web, we teach each other etc.).
  • 3. Reflection phase methods (a map of thoughts, free writing.
  • 4. Game as a teaching Czech method.
  • 5. Use of computer programmes in teaching grammar and stylistics.
  • 6. Influence of teaching methods on the atmosphere in schools.
  • 7. Techniques of preparation lessons.

Teaching methods
seminar - class discussion, class presenatations, homeworks
Assessment methods
The subject is ended by a credit test. The students are called to do homework in the course of the term. They submit a portfolio that includes the application of methods based on chosen topics of Czech language grammatical or stylistic subject matter to get a credit.
