- Course objectives
- Having met the course requirements, students are able to recall and reproduce basic knowledge of literary theory. They are able to apply terminology of literary studies and interpret an artistic piece of literature.
- Syllabus
- 1. Basic terminology and literature related to the field of study. Specificity of literature for youth, categories of readers. 2. Literary categories, forms and genres. Structure of a literary work. Analysis and interpretation of a literary text. 3. The process of a literary communication; literary character, author, narrator, recipient and their mutual relationship. 4. Changes of genres in time, new topics and issues. 5. Linguistic means of an artistic text.

- Teaching methods
- Type of course: lecture Students continuously apply newly acquired knowledge when they interpret recommended literature.
- Assessment methods
- Credit requirements: students write a quiz which focuses on basic terminology of literary studies and tests their knowledge of recommended literature. The test consists of 10tasks which are evaluated separately. Passmark for the test is up to and including 3,0.
