- Course objectives
- The subject provides basic information about presentation methods, a culture of oral discourse and an interpretation of literary texts. In the first phase, students try to find out their abilities to interpret, moreover they learn to work with a text creatively, to shorten it, to choose a suitable passage, and take a decided stand on the text. While analysing the text afterwards, students pay attention to its form, expose figurative elements, and they learn to reveal the meaning and sense. After a detailed analysis and interpretation of the text, they deal with technical tools of vocal implementation, such as intonation, stress, pause, rhythm and pace of speech. At the end of the course, its participants acquire a skill of reading out and presenting literary texts.

- Teaching methods
- Seminars and individual consultations include a possibility for students to try to prepare an own public performance. During the course, students go through all phases of interpreter’s work – counting a choice of a text for presentation, analysis of the text and final public performance. The principal idea of this approach is to lead students systematically (not on the basis of random advice), which heads towards constant development of their individual abilities to interpret.
- Assessment methods
- The seminar is finished by a successful presentation of a chosen text on a public performance. The final performance verifies whether a student is able to convey his/her exposition of the text to listeners and whether s/he is able to engage listeners’ attention emotionally. S/he is given a feedback by his/her colleagues and teacher (colloquy).
