Prerequisites
The only prerequisites are an interest in the subject and a fast Internet connection. The course is suitable for both beginners and advanced students (not for native speakers, though).

Course objectives
The course covers a wide range of activities - from basic grammar through exercises designed to extend vocabulary, listening skills, reading authentic texts, to work in discussion fora.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- adequately react to a post of their moderator or fellow student in the discussion forum;
- correct the language of their post based on their moderator's feedback;
- write a short piece of text in English (minimum: 50 words);
- if interested, they will be able to create a new exercise to practice English for their fellow students;
- if interested, they will be able to take part in a synchronous online discussion;
Syllabus
  • Students work individually in various language learning activities throughout the term. They have an opportunity to discuss various topics in the discussion fora of the course. A link to the complete syllabus can be found below.

Assessment methods
The whole course is taught only online. The credit requirements are as follows:
completion of the Placement test and of the exercise "How to work in the course" and joining an appropriate seminar group;
achievement of 1,000 points in a variety of activities by certain dates (there are three deadlines in the course of the semester);
achievement of 100 points (out of these 1,000 points) through discussion by certain dates (the same three deadlines);
completion of the Final Test and the Final Questionnaire at the end of the semester
