Course objectives
The course is a follow-up to Guide to the Czech Literature 1. Having met the course requirements, students are able to define the basic trends and movements in the contemporary literature for children and young adults. They will classify and discuss selected interdisciplinary themes and topics.
Learning outcomes
Student: - will be able to perceive the basic trends and changes of the current children’s and youth literature; - will be very familiar with selected particular and interdisciplinary topics that are deepening their current overview; - will be able to orient in the current forms of the critical reflection of youth literature, literary awards, and the like.
Syllabus
  • 1. Literature for children and youth in 21st century. Trends, theme and genre changes. Important contemporary authors and illustrators. 2. Editors practice - important publishers of literature for children and youth. 3. The development and conception of book illustrations in the present.

The type of course: lecture. Completion: credit. Requirements: semester paper - selective bibliography to chosen theme (e. g. the bibliography of some illustrator, the production of some publishing house, region author etc.). Concrete themes are assigned at the beginning of the term.
