Course objectives
The course objective is to provide a deeper insight into the scientific approach to evaluation of a foreign language coursebook, or a set of coursebooks the part of which are electronic media.
Syllabus
This course makes part of the optional courses of the didactic section (subsection Topical chapters on didactics of foreign languages); it is offered especially to students whose dissertation is related to this topic. We understand that a coursebook is an important educational construct, regulator of teaching and a means of increasing quality in foreign language teaching. We also believe that good coursebooks can be created only if they are research-based. Topics to cover: • a foreign language coursebook in the diachronic perspective, • functions of a foreign language coursebook, • aspects of a quality foreign language coursebook, • evaluation methods of foreign language coursebooks and evaluation of their effects.
