Course objectives
The aim of the course is to familiarize with the educational conditions for students with SEN abroad. Through project activities, study stay and cooperation in international environment students get aquainted with the special education teaching practice abroad and enhance their skills and competences in team cooperation on international level. In the follow-up course Education for All – Practicle Experiences 2, the students become acquainted with the educational conditions of pupils with SEN in foreign countries. The aim is to build on the experience already gained in cooperation with foreign students from partner universities and pass through study stay in the selected schools in foreign countries.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student will be able to: Define the basic characteristics of the educational system in the selected country; Describe the conditions of education of pupils in normal/specialized institution in the country, and examples of effective support for the training of children/pupils with SEN at the system and individual level; Present the outputs of the study stay in English, and work together on a project in a team.

  • Basic characteristics of the educational system in the selected country (structure of the educational system). Characteristics of the educational conditions for students with special educational needs (fundamental streategies, educational institutions). Counselling system in education of individuals with special educational needs.. The teacher assistant activities in education of pupils with special educational needs.

Teaching methods
Interactive seminar for the introduction to educational system of the selected country. Assistive work within the study stay in selected classroom, where student/students with SEN are educated. Preparation and presentation of the conditions for education of individuals with special educational needs in the Czech educational system (and abroad) in English in the host school. Submission of the study stay final report to the homework vaults (length 750 - 1000 words; 3 - 4 pages).
Assessment methods
Student active participation at the interactive seminar (20 %). Preparation and presentation of the conditions for education of individuals with special educational needs in the Czech educational system (and abroad) in English in the host school (20 %). Cooperation in the international team (10 %). Submission of the study stay final report (50 %).
