- Abstract
- The aim of the course is to provide students with reflections on the manifestations of communication skills of children and adults, which arise from the background of various forms of special educational needs, with respect to all language levels; Furthermore, the student will be actively involved in teaching through aids and materials used in practice, and will thus deepen their orientation in communication difficulties that may arise due to various forms of disability and disadvantage, and thus become a barrier during life.
- Learning outcomes
- orientation in the manifestations of impaired communication skills in children and adults with disabilities;
strengthening the ability to identify communication difficulties arising from disability or disadvantage;
building competence to identify the needs of children and adults with SEN in relation to the field of communication;
the ability to create material to support the communication skills of children and adults with SEN. - Key topics

- Classification of symptomatic communication disorders.
- Factors affecting speech and language development in children with intellectual disabilities.
- Intellectual disability as a major determinant of speech and language development.
- Specifics of communication support for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Cerebral palsy as a barrier to communication, speech development in children with cerebral palsy.
- Options for supporting communication in the context of modern reflexivity-based approaches to children and adults with cerebral palsy.

- The course is completed by a colloquium. A condition for passing the colloquium is active participation in the seminar - full-time study 75% participation, combined study 50% participation and preparation of three assignments: 1. mind map - on topic - Communication 2. essay Communication and Me 3. design and implementation of a communication game with children
