- Course objectives
- he student will learn the basics of ancient, medieval and modern terminology for school practice. Emphasis is placed on ensuring that the knowledge acquired by the student can be functionally linked to undergraduate preparation for the teaching profession. The aim is for the student to be able to set the living legacy of Latin language and culture in a didactically effective way for use in history didactics - in thematic history teaching and in interdisciplinary and project teaching.
- Learning outcomes
- Student after completing the course:
has mastered the principles of Latin pronunciation;
knows the basics of Latin grammar corresponding to the objectives of the course;
has mastered the basics of ancient, medieval and modern terminology for school practice;
is able to orientate in the historical stages of the development of Latin culture at the level applicable to school practice;
can use a functional Latin-Czech dictionary and use it to translate terms and "living words" from Latin cultural memory;
is able to orientate in information sources corresponding to the focus of the course;
is aware of the digitized cultural heritage of Latin culture and can use it for the needs of school practice
can implement elements of Latin in the didactics of history - Syllabus
- 1. Introduction - the contribution of Latin to the development of European civilization.
- 2. Correct Latin pronunciation.
- 3. Basics of Latin grammar.
- 4. Basics of ancient terminology for school practice.
- 5. Basics of medieval and modern terminology for school practice.
- 6. Orientation in the historical stages of the development of Latin culture at the level applicable to school practice.
- 7. Functional use of Latin-Czech dictionary for working with translations of terminology, "living words" and simple texts from Latin cultural memory.

- Lectures (1/2 hour per week) - theoretical introduction to the topics of teaching topics
Exercises (1/2 hour per week) - active acquisition of grammar and terminology, work with vocabulary, active work with digital heritage, active work with information sources related to teaching topics and connecting the course with history didactics
Individual homework, continuous fulfillment of tasks - Assessment methods
- The criteria for successful completion of the course include attendance, fulfillment of mandatory tasks and successfully passed exam in written form.
