Abstract
The course introduces MA students to various approaches in anthropological thought, with an emphasis on social and cultural anthropology and philosophical anthropology. Students are introduced to basic anthropological concepts and currents of anthropological thought, major cultural regions, and the philosophical basis of anthropological thought.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students are able to classify the field, describe its main objectives and basic paradigms and themes. They recognize the basic cultural regions. They explain the nature of world knowledge as culturally contingent.
Key topics
Basic concepts, paradigms and directions of cultural and social anthropology, main personalities, contribution of anthropological thinking in other social science disciplines.
