The subject follows the subject CLDS_a20 Seminar for PhD students III. The course is primarily intended for students of specialization in the Historic languages of the Czech land.

Abstract
Course aims:
- further enhancement of the student's skills and knowledge within Medieval Studies as the main focus of their doctoral dissertation;
- demonstration of the ability of practical application of the said principes when working with specific materials;
- gradual enhancement of the student's skills and knowledge within the thematic scope of the specialization Medieval Languages;
- application of the skills and knowledge acquired in the wider framework of the specialization, on particular issues of the dissertation thesis.
Learning outcomes
After the completion of the course, the student shall:
- acquire skills and methods that are adequate for literary-theoretical research in the field of Medieval Studies;
- check their command of the said methods by working with specific material;
- boost their knowledge and competence within the thematic scope of the specialization Medieval Languages;
- apply the skills and knowledge acquired in the wider framework of the specialization, on particular issues of the dissertation thesis.
Key topics
The student is to master the principles of the Theory of Medieval Literature on a higher level; based on their dissertation project, they shall conduct a research in the most common digitalized databases, and shall demonstrate the ability for working with them (Knihopis digital database, Manuscriptorium, Litterae Ante Portas); this shall be followed by individual work (consultation with experts from the Faculty of Arts Library, or the Moravian Library, is to be realised).
