Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
Seminar will deal with the "traditional" history of art and also with the new domain of visual studies. Students get acquainted with the main theoretical concepts and will analyse either works of art or non artistic manifestations. The aim is to provoke lively discussion.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to talk about the discussed topics of history of art and visual studies after completing this course.

  • After the introduction of the teacher, students will present their papers and discuss on the topic. • Primitivism and other cultures • Popular art and mass culture • Art and kitsch • Vanishing aura and banalization of art • Art and politics, "Entartete Kunst" • Exhibition, art fair, show • Visual smog of modern civilisation
