- Define contents and objects of history as a discipline, its position among the other branches and its relation to them; describe the basic types of bibliographies, Czech and foreign scientific journals, encyclopaedia and other handbooks; apply the principles of the work with a scientific literature.

- Contents and objects of history, its position among other disciplines, its relation to the period.
- Periodization: purpose and types. Czech and foreign organization of the historical branch (workshops, universities etc.).
- Bibliographies: types and principles of the composition of a bibliographic record.
- Czech and foreign encyclopaedia and historical journals.
- Principles of the work with a scientific literature.
