Course objectives
The lecture is focused on the musical theoretical work of Hugo Riemann (1849-1919) and Heinrich Schenker (1868-1935).
Hugo Riemann is associated with the current concept of tonality and analysis.
Heinrich Schneker belongs to the authors who have significantly influenced the development of modern music theory. Thanks to this, the interior of the musical work was becoming more and more focused, so the structure and analysis and interpretations became the center of interest.
