Course objectives
The lecture is focused on the work and pedagogical work of Vítězslav Novák and on the circle of composers who are included in so-called Novák's Composition School.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student will be better oriented in the context of Czech music in the 1st half of the 20th century.

  • Besides the music of Vítězslav Novák, the lecture will be focused on the following authors: Ján Ciker, Václav Dobiáš, Alois Hába, Karel Hába, Emil Hradecký, Zdeněk Hůla, Ilja Hurník, Osvald Chlubna, František Jílek, Dezider Kardos, Erich Kleiber, Mykola Koless, Iza Krejci, Josef Kresanek, Jaroslav Krombholz, Alexander Moyzes, Vilém Petrželka, Theodor Schäfer, Klement Slavic, Jiří Srnka, Josef Stanislav, Eugen Suchoen, Jaroslav Vogel. Attention will be paid to the terms:
