Course objectives
A motivational oriented propedeutic subject, which aims to clarify the essence, meaning, fundamentals, terminology, the current development, the current state and possible development of the field of information science, which forms the theoretical core of the study program Information Studies and Librarianship. Issues in mediation of information and information career demands are major themes for the course.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course students should be able:
- explain concepts of data, information, knowledge
- use professional terminology in Czech and English
- describe subfields and specializations in information science
- describe a mediation of information and knowledge
- define a role of information professional in society
