- Course objectives
- Slovenian/Croatian/Serbian/Bulgarian language instruction focused on the active spoken knowledge – broadening of vocabulary (professional and technical terms), phraseology and idioms, active speech abilities.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course students should be able to describe new grammar phenomena acquired in this semester and use the knowledge in spoken and written interaction. By the means of acquiring new vocabulary and grammar they can create text or speak about related topics. Students are able to understand written text and interpret it.
- Syllabus
- Slovenian:
- Using grammar particularities, knowing more difficult structures in morphology.
- Croatian:
- Names, vocative, verbal regimen, plusquamperfekt, grammatical aspect, perfect gerund, translation from Czech to Croatian, phrases, analysis of short stories, conversation.
- Serbian:
- Morphology (declinations, tenses, comparation of adjectives) and word formation. Lexical part - synonyms, antonyms, slang and phrases. Conversation topics: language and communication, art, computers and new technology, ecology, space, customs and superstition, work (writing the biography and a motivation letter). Texts for each topic (newspaper articles or Internet articles).
- Bulgarian:
- Texts: Imperative, reflexive pronoun „si“. Audition. Using present tense of imperfective verbs to express past events. Will you go to Carevac? Perfect tense, particle “štom”. Market as an economic model. Using perfect tense instead of aorist in sentences with indirect speech.

- Seminar (four hours per week), essays, home preparation, in the seminar a combination of teacher-led activities and student-centered/group learning activities will be employed.

- CROATIAN:
The deadline for submitting the assigned essays is December 8th, the oral translation of newspaper articles should be done by December 13th. SLOVENIAN:
The exam at the end of the semester is written (60%) and oral. In order to take the exam, the student must complete 80% attendance at the exercises. During the semester, the student is given a project assignment and reads two sophobe Slovenian novels.
