Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are folowing: making students aware questions of care outside the family. In the course we shall focus on advanced of adoptions procedures and implentation, child raising leave, placement in a home, childrens home and community home, family welfare work,fostering unit.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course students will be able to:
- discuss the basic problems of foster care,
- compare different forms of foster care,
- describe the system of institutional care,
- compare dilemmas of foster care and institutional care,
- analyze current research findings on foster care.

  • 1. Care outside the family in the Czech Republic.
  • 2. Adoptions procedures and implentation.
  • 3. Residential care, fostering unit.
  • 4. Care order. Placement in a home.
  • 5. Children in foster family, family and social work.
