Prerequisites
The course has no prerequisities. An interest for the topic, a basic knowledge of canonic works of art and fundamental concepts of epistemology, ontology and axiology as well as basic familiarity of history of Philosophy are presupposed.

Course objectives
An ideal absolvent is able to identify basic modes of philosophy of art, their applicability and explication power. S/he is also able to orientate among time and topics interconnections of various philosophies of art in general, their value, definitions, ways of being, their cognitive powers and roles in our lives.
Learning outcomes
An ideal absolvent is able of basic orientation in Philosophy of Art as to topics and history.
Syllabus
  • The subject matter of philosophy of Art, method is semiotical. Ontology of Art. Epistemology of Art. Axiology of Art. Realism vs. nominalism. Cognitivism. Canon: high vs. low.
