Course objectives
The aim of the course is to give a detailed outline of the Russian art development key periods from ancient times to the present. During the lectures, students will get acquainted with Russian architecture, painting, sculpture, and the development of Russian cinema. The emphasis will be put on the relations between the literary development and other kinds of art.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students will be able:
- to understand the development of Russian culture in juxtaposition to the Russian literature and history;
- to use the knowledge about the Russian cultural history from the ancient times to the 20th century;
- to characterize the main art movements in the Russian art and to determine their significant representatives;
- to prepare a paper and present it in the course.
