Course objectives
The lectures acquaint students with a deeper knowledge of Slavic studies as a discipline and with comparative Slavic linguistics, both diachronicly and in a synchronous plan. Knowledge about the grammatical structure of Old Slavonic and Proto-Slavic is deepening in comparison with the situation in contemporary Slavic languages.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to orientate in the issues of Slavic comparative linguistics, both in synchronous and diachronic plan.

  • 2. Slavic comparative linguistics, historical-comparative method in linguistics
  • 3. Division of Slavic languages, specifics in grammatical systems of the Slavic languages
  • 4. Proto-Slavic and Old Slavonic.

Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation - lecture, consultation, self-study.
Assessment methods
Knowledge is tested by a written exam, during which the student demonstrates the ability to analyze and compare the grammatical systems of all Slavic languages, taking into account the situation in Proto-Slavic and Old Slavonic.
