- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to present the students to a comprehensive and deepened overview of Ukrainian history from the prehistoric settlement of the territory of today's Ukraine to the middle of the 19th century (abolition of serfdom in the Russian Empire and revolutionary year 1848 in the Habsburg monarchy).
- Learning outcomes
- The student will acquire knowledge of hisotry of Ukraine from the beginning to the middle of the 19th century.

- Pre-Slavic territory of Ukraine. Kievan Rus´. Succession States after the disintegration of Kievan Rus´. Polish-Lithuanian union. Union of Lublin. Ukraine within borders of Rzeczpospolita. Cossack phenomenon. The Khmelnytsky uprising. Cossack Hetmanate. Ivan Mazepa. Partitions of Poland. Ukraine within the Russian Empire till abolition of serdom. Ukraine within the Austrian Empire to the revolutionary year 1848. The year of Revolution 1848.
