Course objectives
This course is intended as a follow-up to Methodology I. It combines: (a) practical components such as classroom techniques (back chaining, dictogloss, timelines, eliciting, concept checking, TTT, PPP etc), (b) theoretical issues such as past and present methodologies, first and second language acquisition, input-intake-output, multiple intelligences, consructionism, (c) considerable attention is also paid to language itself, the nature of vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, notions and functions, (d) an awareness of the field of ELT as a career. The ultimate aim is to produce graduates who will be well-equipped with skills and knowledge to begin a career in English language teaching in secondary schools.

The Good Teacher - a journal article 6. First Language Acquisition 7. Second Language Acquisition 8. Notions and Functions 9. Selected areas of phonology 10. Approaches to teaching B: Practical matters:- Vocabulary pre-teaching Teaching literature in Secondary Schools Questions as teaching techniques Using dialogues Lesson preparation Preparation of teaching material Course design Assessing students pre, during and post C: Student presentations in selected areas, for example, Learner training, roles of the teacher, constructionism, neurolinguistic programming, constructionism, accuracy and fluency, etc.

Teaching methods
Seminars using loop input where possible. Students involved in problem solving tasks, task-based learning, participating in demonstration lessons and analysing them, giving their own presentations, producing sample work based on input, preparation for practice teaching.
