Course objectives
The seminar should provide basic information necessary for the study of the field as well as help the students develop practical skills - working with primary and secondary literature, getting acquainted with basic (past and current) literary-studies publications and magazines, and catching up with recent literary production. In its practical part it focuses on the specific features of theoretical style and its genres, and to a certain extent it uses and enhances the students' knowledge from the parallel lecture (especially in poetics).
Syllabus
  • The way to information (libraries, basic literature); textology; textual criticism (also in relation to the Bible, especially in the Czech context); bibliography; working with reference literature; citation rules; notes; advice for the preparation of seminar papers and essays; practical training in theoretical style in which the students' knowledge of poetics will be used.
