Course objectives
The lecture is outlined as contribution towards history of world theatre and set design in the beginning of 20th century. The aim is to show how looks like the beginnings of symbolism movement in Russia, specially in theatre and find differences between French and Russian culture. Particular attention will be paid to the new structure of dramatic texts, which came into existence as an antithesis of the previous realistic-naturalistic tendencies in art and positivist oriented science, emphasized the legitimacy of experiment as a means of a search for new sources of creation.
