Course objectives
Reading and interpreting of Finnish texts.
Syllabus
  • The texts are supposed to be chosen according to their language, content and (inter-)cultural significance relevance. Most of the texts have been translated to Czech, thus students may compare their own translations with those of professional translators and become aqcuainted with basic translation criticism and theory terms. Such texts are e.g. novels and stories by Mika Waltari or contemporary authors like Rosa Liksom or Arto Paasilinna.
