Course objectives
The course expands knowledge gained in previous courses to folk clothing of European nations on the basis of literature and latest development in research. It puts an emphasis on the geographical, ethnical, historical and religious uniqueness in forming and developing the folk clothing in Europe. It explains the connection of the West European clothing with the historical costume and characteristics of the folk clothing of Slavonic nations. It looks into the main features of the Balkan types of folk clothing (female double-apron, male Carpathian) and points out to associations with our environment.
