- Course objectives
- The course follows Ancient Greek for Modern Greek Students II., continuation of normative grammar of the Attic dialect of Ancient Greek: substantive declination III., system of Greek participles, contracted verbs, subjunctive mood, subjunctive in subordinate clauses. At the end of the course, students will be capable of understanding authentic Greek texts with the use of dictionaries and will have acquired deeper knowledge of old phases of Greek language.

- 1. Revision: passive aorist and future tense. 2. Noun declination: nt-stems. 3. System of Greek participles. 4. Principles of vowel contraction in Greek.Contracted –e verb stems. 5. Noun declination: s-stems. 6. Contracted –a verb stems. 7. Formation of subjunctive, use of conjunctive in main clauses. 8. Contracted –o verb stems. 9. Conjunctive in conditional, purpose and time subordinate clauses. 10. Noun declination: -i and –y vocalic stems. 11. Supplement to irregular comparison of adjectives. 12. The optative mood, basic information on sequence of tenses 13. A short introduction to perfect tense in Greek

- Assessment methods
- Students’ active attendance, including homework, is necessary. Credits are obtained by passing a written test. The test consists of a short coherent Greek text translation, a translation of sentences from Greek into Czech, morphological identifying of verb forms exercise, declension of nouns and adjectives.
