Course objectives
The aim of the seminar is to inform the students about the basics of lexicology and semantics. The aim of the seminar is to inform the students about the essentials of Portuguese lexicology and lexicography and the investigation of the elaboration of the vocabulary in Portuguese language. Connected to this topics, special attention is paid to the theoretical problems of lexicology and lexicography, neologism and lexical dynamics. One of the parts of this discipline is formed by finding definitions of the object of the lexicology and lexicography, historical evolution of the meanings of selected words, division of the word in grammatical and lexical terms, division of the semes of the words in informema and pragmema and word formation. The initial linguistic competence according to the European reference framework: C2.

Assessment methods
Credit - a written test composed by two parts: theoretical and pracical. In the theory the definition and explication of lexical termology will be required. The practical part will include exercises testing the formation of the vocabulary, lexical meanings, etc. . Participation in the seminar is mandatory. During the seminar a regular preparation es mandatory. On of the part of the seminar is formed alos by a work with dictionaries, with authentic materials of spoken and written european portuguese language, elaboration of grammar exercices.
