Course objectives
General Education
Introduces students into basic concepts and relations in Education as the behavioral science. It especially concerns the object of Education, its structure and relations to other disciplines, definition of basic categories of Education as the behavioral science: aims, content, forms, means, actors, principals of educational prcess - and their mutual relations. Further, the attention is also paid to possibilities of educational process, to relations of education, environment, and heredity, to main educational streams and ideas of 19th and 20th centuries.
At the end of this course, students should be able to: understand and be able to explain basic categories of education, discuss about aims, curriculum, means and ends of education, principals of educational process - and their mutual relations.

  • 3. Basic educational category: aims, ends, curriculum, methods, pupil and teacher.
  • 4. Aims of education.
  • 5. Curriculum, key competencies, White book, Educational framework programme, School educational framework programme.
  • 6. Agents of education. Educator, family education, school education.
  • 7. Theory of heredity, intelligence, educational environment, educational enthusiasm and pesimism.
  • 8. Educational princips.
  • 9. Subject and object of education and theri mutual relationship.
  • 10. Forms of education, Czech educational system.
  • 11. Alternative, experimental schools, deschooling.
