Course objectives
At the end of the course students will be able to:
reproduce nominal and verbal paradigms studied within the course (see syllabus of the course);
explain grammatical rules studied within the course;
translate a simple self-contained Latin text into Czech.
Syllabus
  • This course provides a comprehensive overview of the following grammatical categories:
  • Morphology: gerund and gerundive;
  • participles;
  • supine.
  • Syntax: independent uses of the subjunctive mood,
  • consecutive clauses;
  • participle constructions;
  • periphrastic conjugation;
  • ablative absolute;
  • uses of nominative in subordinate clauses;
  • gerundive constructions.

Teaching methods
Lectures, practice (translating, grammar exercises). Regular class attendance and homework are required.
Assessment methods
Requirements for credit: regular class attendance (75%) and passing a written test where knowledge of grammar studied during the course is examined. For a graded evaluation, additional oral examination is required.
