Course objectives
Japanese Language I. is an introductory course into the Japanese language and it deals with basic Japanese vocabulary and grammar. Initial classes are aimed at self-introduction and Japanese greetings, later the course deals with elementary Japanese grammar and vocabulary. Learning to read and write the Japanese syllabary hiragana is an essential part of the course. Attendance of the course Japanese Writing JAPX 101 is recommended. Proficiency in English lanuage is compulsory.

Assessment methods
The course will be assessed after completing the final written test, which will summarize the expressions and grammar learned throughout the course. The examination will focus on hiragana.
