Abstract
Upon successfull completion of the course, students will be able to: describe, analyze and read correctly different types of Latin verses, which appear in the classical poetry such as hexameters, pentameters hendecasyllables etc. Selected poems of Ovidius and Catullus will be read. The course participants will have a broader and more solid knowledge about the literary and social context of the Latin classical poetry, will be able to understand, comment, analyze and appreciate these ancient texts. The students will be further able to evaluate critically various commentaries and secondary literature concerning these texts. See http://www.phil.muni.cz/elf/

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
The course includes practice with focus on correct translation and interpretation of the Latin original poetic texts into Czech language. Regular work at home weekly is expected. Special attention will be paid to the use of modern commentaries and to the knowledge of Ancient mythology and reality.phraseology. Regular work at home is exspected weekly, which consists in translating from Czecht into Latin. Each student must present a coursework dealing with the specific problems of Latin elegy.
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
The course is taught as both lectures and seminars. A paper and its oral delivery on the topic sleected during the semester. At the end, written and oral final examination: analysis of the metre of a poem selected and its adequate translation from Latin. Active participation at the classes is expected also.

http://www.phil.muni.cz/elf/ Rozsah referátu: minimum 6 normostran včetně handoutů (normostrana = 1800 znaků; Times New Roman; řádkování 1,5) V úvodu by měla zaznít osnova referátu, tj. referující v bodech nastíní, čemu se bude věnovat. Obecný úvod, tj. seznámení s historickým a kulturním kontextem by mělo zahrnout maximálně jednu šestinu referátu, a to jen v případech, kdy je tento úvod nutný, to znamená, že je nepřípustné, aby referující věnoval polovinu určeného času, životopisným údajům např. o Ciceronovi nebo Ovidiovi apod. Referáty v latinském prosemináři se věnují převážně jednotlivým Ovidiovým dílům, které je nutno podrobně rozebrat a prezentovat - veškeré ukázky se uvádí v jazyce originálu, doprovázny českým překladem. Hnadouty - latinský text vždy, případně český překlad. Citování použité literatury všude, kde byla použita (poznámky pod čarou). Seznam použité literatury na konci referátu - citace dle citačního úzu, který je přesně definován v předloze pro diplomovou práci na www.phil.muni.cz v kolonce Studium, Předpisy, úplně na konci stránky. Latinské texty citovat dle teubnerských vydání nebo databází přístupných na serveru našeho ústavu např. BTL Nepoužívá se pokud možno Wikipedie ani jiné neověřené internetové zdroje, pokud se používají, je nutno je ověřit jinde.
