Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: - enlarge their knowledge of issues concerning the 19th century of Czech literature; - are familiar with specialized literature and methodology; - check their interpretative skills; - are familiar with basic findings and methodological procedures of related disciplines; - are able to apply acquired knowledge and skills when creating scientific texts.
The contents of the seminars are readings and interpretations of the selected works, included in the period of the 19th century of Czech literature. A part of the seminar programme is devoted to the compulsory reading.
This course is the continuation a bachelor’s course of the same name. The main objectives of the course are the following: to extend and deepen the knowledge of the 19th century Czech literature. An emphasis is based on the interpretation of literary works in Czech and European literary context, its integral constituent is the critical evaluation of secondary literature and methodology. The plurality of research approaches is respected during the lesson.

Teaching methods
Seminars, 1½ hours per week; a reading of the discuss topic, a short oral presentation of summaries, a written summary of the reports; a collective interpretation, class discussion.
Assessment methods
The examination for students of single-subject form is based on their knowledge in particular literary-historical section with regard to specific contents of particular course including knowledge in primary and secondary courses.
Assesment: essay (hand-out and summary) and active participation. Oral exam will be based on interpretation of historical development of particular period, knowledge of recommended primary literature and analyses of the works read by students.
