- Course objectives
- Sudents should obtain general information about specific features of medieval European literatue and national literatures (according to the field of interest) and about principal methods and trends in their study.
- Syllabus
- Classical roots of the medieval literature (Plato, Cicero, Boethius); Christian roots of the medieval literature (Bible, patristic literature, Augustinus); Contribution of benedictine cloisters to medieval literature; The role of rhetoric in medieval literature; The Carolingian and Ottonian Renaissance, Humanism of the 12. century, Renaissance and Humanism; The relationshib between medieval Latin literature and the literatures in national languages; Medieval poetry (religious and secular); Carmina Burana and its analogies in the national literatures; Hagiography; Woman in medieval literature; What is "locus communis"?

- Písemná práce v rozsahu min. 10 stran, počítačová sazba, velikost fontu 12, řádkování 1,5 - s poznámkovým aparátem a seznamem pramenů a literatury! Jako téma lze vybrat ketékoli ze souborných témat uvedených v "osnově" nebo na kterýkoli rozvíjejí pojem z těchto témat, vše s ohledem na specializaci doktoranda. Kolokvium o odevzdané práci a o kterémkoli z témat "Osnovy".
