- Course objectives
- Lectures on Portuguese history and culture. The main objectives can be summarized as follows: to learn the history and culture of the country since the prehistorical era until today; to understand the phenomena (sebastianismo, saudosismo, colonialization etc.) that shaped the policy and culture of Portugal; to understand the contemporary situation in the country

- 1. Prehistory and Roman Era 2. Early Middle Ages 3. Foundation of the kingdom (Afonso Henriques and reconquista) 4. Consolidation of the state (Sancho I, Afonso II, Sancho II, Afonso III, Dinis, Afonso IV, Pedro, Fernando I, the gotic style) 5. The Dynasty of Avis 6. Expansion (routes to Africa and India) 7. The Renaissance in Portugal (Duarte I, Afonso V, Jan II, Manuel I, Jan III) 8. Loss of independence 9. Independence (Jan IV, Afonso VI, Pedro II) 10. Enlightenment (Jan V, Josef I, Marie I) 11.
