Course objectives
The aim of the course is to teach students how to apply devices of important authorship approaches on diverse types of films. Students will therefore in the first part of the seminar discuss about selected theoretical literature and example texts, which apply introduced methods and devices in analysis of particular films. Students will understand to the basic models of thinking and ways of using of these devices. The aim of the course is also that students will adopt a critical approach in reading. The second part of the seminar will focus on application of the theoretical devices in analysis of given films in form of presentation.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- understand in detail to models of authorship approaches;
- compare possibilites of particular approaches in film analysis;
- independently apply introduced devices in analysis of particular films.
Syllabus
  • Based on a reading students will thoroughly discuss at a seminar discuss about following theories and approaches:
  • - a biographical legend;
  • - auteur theory;
  • - auteur-structuralism;
  • - post-structuralism;
  • - a collective authorship;
  • - a feminist authorship;
  • - poetological perspective.

Teaching methods
Class discussion about the literature and presentations.
Assessment methods
The attendance at all the seminars is compulsory. Each student will present and in the end will write a paper 10 pages long.
