Course objectives
Student will be able to: - understand paragraph-length utterances pertaining to a wide range of topics relating to daily and academic life. - sustain conversation in coherent paragraphs - identify key facts and some details in descriptive material on daily life. - write essays of 400-500 characters, comprising at least 3 paragraphs, dealing with topics related to the content of the lesson texts studied in class
Learning outcomes
【Listening】 Able to understand paragraph-length utterances pertaining to a wide range of topics relating to daily and academic life. 【Speaking】 Able to sustain conversation in coherent paragraphs. Able to handle successfully a wide range of task. Able to narrate, describe, compare and contrast. 【Reading】 Able to identify a moderate number of character components and high-frequency characters in areas of immediate need. Able to identify key facts and some details in descriptive material on daily life. Able to get the gist of semi-authentic and simple authentic Chinese texts on known topics. 【Writing】 Able to take notes in some detail. Can write notes and simple letters, brief synopses, summaries and biographical data such as work and school experience. Able to write essays of 400-500 characters, comprising at least 3 paragraphs, dealing with topics related to the content of the lesson texts studied in class.

  • The modern Chinese is taught according the Integrated Chinese textbook level 2 part 1, following the order of the textbook's lessons. Detailed syllabus please find in the "study materials".

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Evaluation Method (70%↑, can attends final exam): 1) Attendance 25% 3 unexcused absences allowed during the semester. 2) Assignments 30% If you are absent on the class when your assignment should be handed in, the deadline of your assignment will be postponed to next class spontaneously. 3) Quiz 20% The quiz will test the Vocabularies on every Tuesday for 10 minutes. 4) Tests 25% Two times, first time will test Lesson 1 to Lesson 5, second time will test Lesson 1 to Lesson10. Final exam 100%(70%↑: pass, 70%↓: fail) Written and oral exam: The exam will test from Lesson 1 to Lesson 10.
