Teaching methods
The course is taught by Chinese native speaker who combines various teaching methods (conversation, questions answering, listening, written tasks, presentations etc.)
Assessment methods
Final written exam (computerized, on campus) and oral exam (in person). The student needs to pass both the written (70% above) and the oral exam.
Besides the exams, the following rules must be observed:
1) Up to 4 unexcused absences are allowed in one semester. In case of 5 or more unexcused absences, the student will not be allowed to sit the final exam.
2) In order for an absence to be excused, the student should approach the Study Department of the Faculty with an official request.
3) The student fulfills all tasks given by the teacher (assignments, presentations, etc.) Unpreparedness is judged as absence.
4) Students must not switch study groups, unless the teacher explicitly approved.
FORMAT OF FINAL EXAMS:
The written exam takes place on a Monday or Tuesday, followed by the oral exam on Thursday or Friday of the same week. Only after a student passed the written part will s/he be allowed to sit the oral. The oral part takes the form of 1-on-1 conversation with the main examiner. The students who passed the written part will be approached for a time slot for the oral.
The oral part takes place in the presence of a senior member of the department as a co-examiner ;-)
