Course objectives
In this course Dutch language skills, in particular speaking skills, are practised by means of a broad variety of interactive exercises. The topics partly correspond to those dealt with in the obligatory course Taalverwerving II/1.
Every week students post an article or video on Padlet about a given topic. During class, they topics are discussed. Students are thus invited to keep track of current events and discussions in the NEtherlands and practise a combination of reading, listening and speaking skills. They learn how to summarize information and formulate their opinion on different topics.
This course also requires them to study vocabulary, largely corresponding with the topics dealt with in another obligatory course (Land en Volk Nederland), on the basis of the book Thematische woordenschat. Nederlands voor anderstaligen (2011) by P. Schoenaerts en H. Van Loo. At home and during class these words are practised, with special attention for pronunciation. Besides vocabulary extension and consolidation, pronunciation training is therefore also one of the objectives of this course.
