- Course objectives
- This course consists of three parts: 1) Interpreting for Health Service, Doctors 2) Interpreting for businesses 3) Interpreting for Immigration Dept., Police Force, Court The teacher - an experienced freelance interpreter herself - will share her expertise with the students and supply them with useful hints based on her own real-life experience. Students will be expected to acquire the basic vocabulary in all three areas and practise interpreting, based on role plays. Each week a different situation will be simulated with emphasis on cultural differences, personal and communication skills, as well as appropriate language. Vocabulary tests and text summarizing are part of the course.

- Introduction to all 3 types of interpreting Tongue twisters, interpreting jokes and humour Summary of a short text Brainstorming, Medical vocabulary-building session Interpreting at doctor’s surgery Discussion of cultural differences (British/Czech) Interpreting at Accident and Emergency Dept.
