- Course objectives
- Seminar is focused on practical research of Moravian, mostly Brno's, theatre before 20th century. It consists almost solely on work with archival materials and their interpretation.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the seminar student will be able to:
- work with archival materials, get oriented in them;
- read old German script (Schwabacher, Kurent);
- apply their knowledge of old German script to the reading of archival materials;
- look up archival materials independently;
- understand better the logic of theatre directors' correspondence with the authorities in the 18th centuries;
- process and transcribe theatre directors' petitions and requests;
- understand the practice of early modern professional theatre. - Syllabus
