Course objectives
The aim of the course is to offer the students an overview of the research methods applicable in the field of medieval Latin language and literature. Students will gain a better knowledge about research topics carried out at the Department of Classical Studies and the basics of textual criticism.
Learning outcomes
Students will acquire a comprehensive overview of the methods applicable in the field of medieval Latin language and literature.
Syllabus
  • Bloc teaching:
  • methods of linguistic and literary research on medieval Latin (in general);
  • study of literary and diplomatic sources (part I.);
  • ways of making the sources accessible.
Literature
  • Literature is assigned based on the topics of the dissertation.
  • Literatura: dle zvolených témat doktorských disertací.
Teaching methods
Seminar work; presentations of research and doctoral projects; seminar discussion.
Assessment methods
Regular and active class participation.
