Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquire theoretical knowledge and skills for teaching history at secondary school. Based on the acquired knowledge, to manage the interpretation of secondary-school material and its transfer to the students, to manage specific demands connected with the subject in the area of verifying knowledge, alternative instructional methods, extracurricular activities, etc.
Learning outcomes
The graduate is able to teach history at secondary school using modern didactic methods; has the knowledge and skills that enable him/her to manage the learning process and respond to the specific needs of students; can define the successive goals of the pedagogical process.
Syllabus
  • 1. Interdisciplinary ties of the instruction of history.
  • 2. Didactic media (textual, literary and educational literatures, material sources, oral history etc.).
  • 3. Special approaches, the seminar style of work, project teaching.
  • 4. Stereotypes in the instruction of history.
  • 5. The European and regional dimensions in the instruction of history.
  • 6. Specifics of the verification of knowledge and assessment of students in the instruction of history.
  • 7. Instructional and educational roles of the teacher in class hours of history, practical responsibilities of a secondary-school teacher.
