Course objectives
The subject provides an in-depth insight into text analysis. Central themes are text binding, text type and genre, text in context and discourse analysis.
Learning outcomes
The student will become familiar with central concepts, analysis strategies and methods for working with texts.
Syllabus
  • Text. How does a text become a text?
  • Coherence and cohesion. How do we create coherence?
  • Information strategy. How can the textual referents be arranged in the text?
  • Genre and style of writing. Do all texts relate to a text norm?
  • Context. Discourse analysis. What is the relationship between text and context?
