Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the main moments of Polish-Czech and Ukrainian-Czech cultural, scientific and political relations. The subject of interest is not only the current state of these relations but also their historical development. The subject of interest is also the history of the Polish and Ukrainian minorities in the Czech lands and the history of the Czechs in Poland and Ukraine. Due to the focus of the course on two regions with different external and internal aspects, it is also possible to compare the state of Polish-Czech and Ukrainian-Czech relations.
Learning outcomes
After completing this course the student will be able to:
- summarize the main moments of Polish-Czech cultural, scientific and political relations;
- summarize the main moments of Ukrainian-Czech cultural and political relations;
- to describe the history of the Poles and the Ukrainians in the Czech lands;
- to describe the history of Czechs in Poland and Ukraine;
- to identify and comment on the primary subject literature;
- analyze sources and work with them;
- write an essay on the subject and discuss the topic.

Monologic and dialogic methods. Lectures, practical exercises, discussion, homework.
Assessment methods
Active participation in lessons, written test, final essay. The text consists of 6 main parts (tasks), 60 % correct answers is needed to pass.
