- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the fundaments of classical Japanese, which even today remains a treasury in which a large corpus of texts is still available, in order to broaden their knowledge of Japanese language. Mastery of the basis of classical Japanese enables the students to better understand exapmles of literary texts of the Japanese literature course.

- 1st - 3rd lecture: Genetic and typological specifics of Japanese and a chronological overview 4th to 8th lecture: Phonological, orthographical and grammatical specifics of old Japanese 9th to 12th lecture: Reading of selected texts of classical literature
